Esports betting and odds glossary

Every label you see in the product, explained without jargon. Definitions describe what the number is, not what it predicts — ClutchIQ grades stored history against a price, and nothing here is a tip.

Grading a bet

The arithmetic ClutchIQ runs on a stored or pasted price. Hit rate is history, implied is the price, edge is the subtraction between them.

Hit rate
How often this line actually happened in the maps counted.
Implied
The chance suggested by the sportsbook price (1 ÷ the decimal odds).
Edge
Hit rate minus implied (1 ÷ decimal). Stored edges use Pinnacle else best book. Line desk uses pasted price.
Edge formula
Hit rate minus the chance your book implies (1 ÷ decimal). Without a price there is nothing to grade.
Strong edge
Green. History beat this price by more than 10 points. Still history, not a pick.
Thin edge
Amber. A positive edge up to 10 points — history beat this price, but only just.
Negative edge
Red. The price asks for as much as history gave, or more. Shown as the real number, not hidden.
Hit rate colours
Green at 60% and up, amber from 40 to 60%, red under 40%. The bar length is the same number.
Best edge
The book where this side’s historical hit rate minus implied chance is largest.
Hit-rate only
No stored market price for this line, so only the historical hit rate is shown.
Not a priced edge
Edge needs a stored market price. This line only has a hit rate.
No book
History only — there is no stored price, so this is not an edge.
No market price
There is no stored sportsbook or prediction-market price for this player line.
Odds missing
No matching stored price, so implied chance and edge stay blank.
n/a
Not calculated for this row — usually because there is no price, or a split this source never stored.
Not calculated
Empty samples and samples below 5 maps are omitted — never shown as 0% or 100%.

Sample size and coverage

How much history a rate is standing on. ClutchIQ omits rates below five maps rather than showing 0% or 100% on a handful of maps.

Sample
How many maps this figure is based on.
Hits / maps
Times the line hit, out of the maps counted.
Insufficient sample size
No maps in this sample — hit rate, edge, and rankings skip this until more maps are stored.
Insufficient sample size
Fewer than 5 maps — hit rate, edge, and rankings skip this until more maps are stored.
Small sample
Fewer than 10 maps — treat this as a rough signal, not a settled rate.
Usable sample
10 or more maps — enough to treat this as a usable sample.
Insufficient sample size
No finished series in this sample — form, edge, and rankings skip this until more series are stored.
Insufficient sample size
Fewer than 5 matches — form, edge, and rankings skip this until more series are stored.
Small sample
Fewer than 10 matches — treat this as a rough signal, not a settled rate.
Usable sample
10 or more matches — enough to treat this as a usable sample.
Min sample
How many maps or matches an entry needs before it can take a rank. Below 5 is insufficient sample size.
Below sample threshold
A usable hit rate from fewer maps than the ranking minimum — listed without a rank.
Maps
How many maps this view is based on.
Total kills
Kills added up across the maps in this filter.
Recent series storedRead more
How many of this side's last 20 finished series are already in the database.
Partial
This W-L is stored maps only, not a verified full record.

Windows and venue

Every rate is bounded by a recent window and can be split by venue. Narrow windows are more relevant and smaller.

L5
The last 5 maps.
L10
The last 10 maps.
L20
The last 20 maps.
Recent series

Tied
Same hit rate as another row, so they share a rank.
Rank
