Decimal odds

Decimal odds are the European format: the number includes your stake back. 2.00 is even money.

A decimal price tells you what one unit returns if the bet wins, stake included. Back 1.80 and one unit comes back as 1.80: the original unit plus 0.80 of profit. That is why 2.00 is even money — you double up.

The same number carries a probability. Implied chance is 1 ÷ decimal price: 1.80 implies 55.6%, 2.00 implies 50%, 4.00 implies 25%. ClutchIQ grades every line against that implied number, which is covered in what is edge in esports betting.

Decimal versus American

DecimalAmericanImplied
1.50-20066.7%
1.80-12555.6%
2.00+10050.0%
3.00+20033.3%

Negative American prices are quoted against a 100-unit stake — -125 means you risk 125 to win 100. Positive prices say what 100 wins — +200 means 100 wins 200. Both describe the same relationship, which is why ClutchIQ stores decimal and converts for display.

Questions

Does a higher decimal price mean better value?
It means a bigger payout. Whether it is better value depends on the chance the outcome actually has. A long price on an unlikely outcome is not value, and a short price on a likely one is not automatically bad.
Why do stored prices show as decimal when my book uses American?
Odds format is a display preference set on first sign-in and changeable in account settings. The stored number is decimal; ClutchIQ converts the display. Your pasted price is accepted in either format.
